Within the realms of photography, Gemma's interests are concentrated more in the conceptual art-based and abstract field. Throughout her past and current works, Gemma has focused on the notions of nothing, absence and perception while incorporating the still and moving image. Her style and process for working has become her own, whereby material is pared down and reformulated into a simultaneous process of revealing and obscuring information.

Currently, Gemma is exploring the notions of control, power and duration of time in the studio with a number of subjects in the darkness.
