The work of Oliver Newman is based heavily on his personal passions and opinions. Photographs that he makes can be divided into two separate genres, these being political and automotive. His political work focuses on mainly issues to do with war and the armed forces in an effort to raise awareness and challenge through imagery the stereotypical artistic view presented on the subject of war.

His main work however is carried out within the automotive genre with current series including motorbike portraits and a documentary of the automotive culture within the southwest. These projects have been ongoing for two years and are due to be continued for at least another two. The work looks at trying to reverse the stereotypical view of the biker which has been instilled in our society from American influence and replace this with an awareness of the real bikers which ride on our roads.
