Ruth Smith is a photographer with some 30 years experience having started to take images at the age of 12. Ruth is about to graduate with a BA in photography from the University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham after achieving a BTEC ND in photography from Kingston College.
Ruth prefers to work in black and white and at present uses 35mm and medium format for her work although she has just started experimenting with digital. She primarily works in the genres of portrait and landscape and one of her images progressed to the second round of the National Gallery’s Portrait Prize.
She has worked with Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to produce photography for newsletters. She has also worked with musicians, including Paul Roberts, formerly the lead singer with The Stranglers and now fronting Soulsec, and the UK’s top Santana tribute band, La Vida Santana.
