Suzanne Pollen

Suzanne's interest lies in deconstructing and decontextualising the 'bigger picture' into fragments, exploring detail that is otherwise overlooked, focusing on aspects that we 'see' everyday but may not consciously acknowledge. By reframing physical objects, structures, spaces or psychological issues to create ambiguity and uncertainty she hopes to convey how everything is relative to perspective and as such open up contemplation of individual perceptions of reality. Suzanne's most recent project examines individual perspectives of reality within the domestic environment and family life. By exploring confined spaces within the home and constructing realities that are familiar, yet unfamiliar, she attempts to challenge the ideology of what is conventionally seen as 'Home Sweet Home', the nostalgia associated to memories of the childhood home, and highlight that things are not always what they seem.
